Werewolves Vs. Vampires Discussion Thread

I thought I would make a discussion thread for the Werewolves and Vampires role play idea.
 
There is no real set plot except for the werewolves and vampires being enemies with each other and them competing for territory. 
I suppose we can list which character would be out of the two different types of werewolves and vampires and if they travel with anyone or not.
As far as I understood from the other discussion, there would be some form of leadership on both sides that are only there to enforce certain laws to make sure the existence of their kind stays hidden from the humans.

Setting/General
Essentially a regular "human" world in modern times, of course with the exception of these characters being werewolves and vampires. As a basis we will say focus on the idea of the characters being located in Europe, as being worldwide is perfectly fine but would make it harder for characters to interact. Preferably in areas with forests and/or mountains nearby, but also maybe a small town or two.


If a pair of True parents of either species were to have a child, the child would be born as a Pure/Natural of the species, and would have all the same powers and skills, but it would simply socially that they may be seen as less important than those born from both Natural/Pure parents.


As the "name" of the AU suggests, Vampires and Werewolves generally do not get along well at all (Haha. Us and our ships.) So if at all it should take a long time and be difficult if any of that were to be overcome, and positive interacting between the two species would be looked down upon by others, especially by the older True/Natural beings. Those however who are still new to being the creatures they are may not know as much about these tensions and perhaps feel less hatred for the others, yet at the same time they may be very impressionable and could feel particularly aggressive towards/afraid of the others.

• Pure Vampires: Those who are born from vampire parents, they are often stronger than True Vampires although it is difficult for Vampires to reproduce.
  
• True Vampires: Those who were once human but were bitten by a vampire, before drinking the blood of a vampire. They are stronger than humans but weaker than Pure Vampires, and are also less able to control themselves, although not as badly as a True Werewolf.
  

• Any vampires can change humans into vampires by biting a human, drinking their blood, and then letting the human drink their blood in return.
  
• Vampires usually have a group of "leaders" who enforce laws to keep their identities hidden from the human world and those leaders are most often Pure Vampires, who are seen as much more important individuals.
  
• They have heightened vision, agility, great speed, and also have the ability to change into one nocturnal/dark animal. They cannot be killed by the sun. They age very slowly, and the oldest one may live to is unknown as it is more common to die in battle/unnaturally than to die of illness or old age. They do not die if they don't drink blood for an extended period of time.
  
• Vampires do become considerably weaker during the day and generally dislike sunlight. Any religious symbols can be harmful to the touch and one may simply feel uncomfortable in their presence anyway. A foolproof way of killing a vampire is to stab them through the heart with a wooden object, a stake. All vampires have slightly larger canines than regular humans which could be noticeable upon paying attention, but only when they become bloodthirsty do these further elongate to allow them to feed. And of course, they do need to feed every few days, and if they don't they will become particularly weak.
  

Examples of animals a vampire may be able to turn into: (Technically some of the big cats are Nocturnal too, but please avoid them)

• Natural werewolves: Those who were born from two werewolf parents, and have shown signs of lycanthropy from birth. Generally can more easily control their animalistic tendencies.
  
• True Werewolves: Those who were born human but were bitten by a werewolf on the night of a full moon, causing them to also become a werewolf. Much less able to control their animalistic tendencies and strength, but through training by an experienced werewolf and practice, can control themselves.
  

• Any werewolves may change humans into werewolves by biting a human on the night of a full moon.
  
• Werewolves may live alone, or form small packs. Natural werewolves are generally given more respect amongst them however, usually due to them being stronger.
  
• They have heightened senses and have a great deal of physical strength, even in their human forms. They are also able to change to their werewolf form at will throughout the month and retain most of their human thoughts, however, they are only able to transform at night, which is also when their powers are the strongest. They age very slowly, and the oldest one may live to is unknown as it is more common to die in battle/unnaturally than to die of illness or old age.
  
• Every full moon they forcibly transform whether they want to or not, and on this night even the most controlled werewolf will lose their humanity for the night. Silver is also painful to the touch for a werewolf, and a bullet made of silver can be fatal if shot in the right area of the body. Any religious symbols can be harmful to the touch and one may simply feel uncomfortable in their presence anyway.

• Hunters- or slayers- are those who specialise in hunting vampires, werewolves, or sometimes both. It is a job that is more commonly taken up by humans that have gone through extensive training, but the profession attracts werewolves and vampires as well. 
  
• Hunters will often search for werewolves or vampires, but sometimes wait until one crosses their paths. If a hunter is human, he or she must receive extra training in order to identify a werewolf or vampire and to build up fighting ability. Hunters that are werewolves/vampires may receive less training or have higher expectations earlier on; both due to physical strength and natural identification skills.

I did think about adding the animals for the vampires, but I was not sure if others cared or not. 

Also, America, Canada, and Seychelles are already a small pack of sorts.

Also, the packs, if people want to be in them, can be as big as anyone wants. If it gets big enough though, ranks like alphas might have to be established.


HeyIthoughtofaquestion. Do they live as humans during the day, since vampires can't be killed by sunlight and just grow weaker, they can disguise as humans. Werewolves are the same. Or, are they more stereotypical and live in forests, mountains, and old mansions?

I would assume vampires are immortal? They usually are. I don't know about werewolves.




Omg. Well, if we wanted packs for the werewolves, I would think that would be a bit more difficult if they lived as humans.
Maybe it could just be by choice of the individual vampire or werewolf if they want to live as a human or not?

I had been thinking, what if the ones who are born as they are are immortal but the ones who are turned aren't? Maybe they'd get an extended lifespan, but not become immortal?

And yeah, individual choice for that seems good.

Maybe, vampires are immortal and werewolves aren't, but they still have a longer life span than humans.
Or maybe both just age slowly. I read one book where vampires aren't immortal, but age a lot slower than humans so they still live a long time. And maybe natural/pure just have better instincts, so they often live longer.
